How to use widgets

Single Event widgets are available for all users in every location and size. If you don't see these widgets appearing on your device as an option to add, please restart your device. If, after restarting, they still don't appear, please contact support at contact@prettyprogress.app.

Please, check How to add countdown widgets on your Android's Home Screen for a detailed explanation.

You can change the size of the widget at two different times. When adding a widget for the first time, you can choose an initial size and later modify it. You can also change the size of the widget by entering edit mode after long-tapping on it.

A border will appear around the widget with handles on its sides. You can change the size of the widget by dragging these handles.

For a detailed explanation on how to add a widget with different sizes, please check this page.

Yes. When creating or editing a countdown, turn off All day event. After that, you should be able to choose today as the end date and set the exact end time.

For Timer events, it should also be possible to set 0 days and then choose hours or minutes. If your device does not allow this, update Pretty Progress and contact support from inside the app with a screenshot.

Android does not officially support Lock Screen widgets on every device. On some devices, you may need a third-party app to place widgets on the Lock Screen.

For step-by-step instructions, please check How to add countdown widgets on Android Lock Screen.

Subscriptions and purchases

First, check that the payment was completed in Google Play and that Pretty Progress is installed while you are signed into the same Google Play account that made the purchase. Then open Pretty Progress and tap Restore purchase on the PRO screen.

If the app still does not unlock PRO, contact support from inside the app and include your Google Play receipt. The support email includes your user ID automatically, which helps us check the purchase status.

Your Android PRO purchase is linked to the Google Play account used when you bought it. Make sure you are signed into the same Google Play account, then open Pretty Progress and tap Restore purchase at the bottom of the screen that asks you to upgrade to PRO.

If your purchase is still not restored, contact support from inside the app so the email includes your Pretty Progress user ID. Include the Google Play account used for the purchase and a copy or screenshot of the receipt when possible.

Android subscriptions are managed through Google Play, not directly by Pretty Progress. Open the Google Play app, make sure you are signed into the correct Google account, go to Payments & subscriptions, choose Pretty Progress, and select the plan or cancellation option you need.

If you want to switch from a subscription to Lifetime or another PRO plan and Google Play does not offer a direct change path, cancel the current subscription, wait until the paid period ends, then open Pretty Progress again and choose the plan you want.

Pretty Progress purchases on Android are handled by Google Play. If the PRO screen shows an error, check your internet connection, update Google Play services if needed, and make sure Google Play purchases are available in your region and payment account.

Pretty Progress does not currently support alternative payment methods such as PayPal, direct bank transfer, or manual redeem codes. If Google Play continues to fail, contact support from inside the app with a screenshot of the error.

Your PRO status can be restored on another Android device as long as you use the same Google Play account that made the purchase. If the app does not recognize PRO automatically, tap Restore purchase on the PRO screen.

Events are separate from the Google Play purchase. To sync events between devices, use the same Pretty Progress account on each device where cloud sync is available. If you created events before signing in or if one device is not syncing, update Pretty Progress and contact support from inside the app if the events still do not appear.

Purchases made through Apple and Google Play do not transfer automatically between platforms. If you bought Lifetime on one platform and want PRO access on the other, contact support from inside Pretty Progress on both devices so both emails include the anonymous user IDs needed to review the case.

Even when PRO status can be matched manually, events do not currently sync between iOS and Android. Cross-platform event sync is planned for the future but is not available yet.

Troubleshooting

Please launch Pretty Progress at least once after installing/updating the app. Then try to add the widget again. If that doesn't help, please restart your device and try adding the widget again.

Pretty Progress does not limit the number of widgets you can display on your Home Screen. However, Android imposes memory limits on apps, which may affect widget usage.

This memory depends on the Android version, your specific device and other factors. The limit affects how often widgets can be updated and, if you have several widgets, how many of those widgets will be updated each time.

Some calculations may require more memory than others. For example, if you are using themes like The Pattern to draw a lot of dots proportional to your days left, it requires higher memory than simpler cases. Changing your widgets design for more simple themes may help to show more widgets, but is not guaranteed.

First, open Pretty Progress once to force the widgets to refresh, then check that you are using the latest version of the app. If the widget still keeps loading or flickering, remove it from the Home Screen, add it again, and restart the device.

If the problem continues, contact support from inside Pretty Progress. Include the app version, Android version, device model, and a screenshot or screen recording if you can.

Pretty Progress does not set a fixed event limit, but Android can impose memory and update limits that affect widgets. Very large numbers of events or many widgets on the Home Screen may cause widgets to update less often, get stuck loading, or fail to refresh reliably.

If this happens, try reducing the number of active widgets, using simpler widget styles, and restarting the device. If it continues, contact support from inside the app with your device model and the approximate number of events/widgets you are using.

It is currently not possible to increase the refresh rate of the widgets due to the way Android handles widgets.

Apps have the ability to request when a widget should be updated, always inside of a budget of requests (currently Pretty Progress requests updates widgets every 15 min, which is the minimum time available), but it is Android who finally decides and manages when that happens depending on several factors. Android does this so that widgets do not consume so much battery.

It is possible to update widgets manually every time an app is used again. Your widgets will be updated every time you open the app.

Pretty Progress widgets do not currently show seconds. Showing seconds would require widgets to update every second, which can use a lot of battery and is limited by how Android manages widgets.

This has been requested as an optional feature, but it is not currently available.

General

Not yet. The Android app was released after the iOS app, so some iOS features are still being brought over to Android. Some themes, widget styles, and customization options may differ between platforms.

The goal is to bring the Android app closer to the iOS app feature by feature, but not every feature has an ETA.

Countdown shows the time remaining until a date or deadline. Count up shows the time that has passed since a date. Timer lets you set a specific duration, such as a number of minutes, hours, or days, and then count down or up from that duration.

In all cases the Total time of the Countdown is the difference between the Start time and the End time, including the difference in hours and minutes of those dates.

If you choose Count down, the time displayed will be the Remaining time, and if you choose Count up, the time displayed will be the Past time. In both cases the hours and minutes are included in the calculation.

If one of the times above, for example Remaining time, is 4d 14h 56min the time shown will be 5 days left (if Days is the unit selected to display) if you have chosen Round up, and 4 days left if you have chosen Round down.

When 5 days left would change to 4 days left depends at what time your progress will finish. Following the previous example, if your progress finishes at 0:00, then at 0:00 the time displayed will changed. If your progress finishes at 17:30, then the time displayed will change at 17:30.

To sync events between devices, use the same Pretty Progress account on each device where cloud sync is available. Your PRO purchase is managed separately through Google Play on Android or Apple on iOS.

Cross-platform event sync between iOS and Android is not currently available, but it is planned for the future.

If you have deleted any of the standard events and you want to restore them, including their special functions, you can do so in the Settings screen:

  1. Tap the (...) button at the top right of the app's Home screen
  2. Scroll down and tap in Restore Default Events button
  3. Go back to the app's Home Screen and you will see the standard events restored on the grid

Note that the Restore Default Events button will only appear if you have deleted any of the default events. If you have not deleted any of the default events, then it will not appear. Archiving an event will not make the button to appear, if you can't find your event in the list of Ongoing events, try searching for it on the Archive.

Contact support from inside Pretty Progress and ask to delete your account and associated data. Sending the request from inside the app includes the user ID needed to find the correct account.
